Claiming its territory as one of the best places for golf, Business North Carolina has once again named the state’s Top 100 Golf Courses. The publication assembles 150 experts from the news media, club professional and general managers as well as others in-the-know to rate golf courses in the Tar Heel State. Again this year, Pinehurst No. 2 drew top honors from the North Carolina Golf Panel. Here a few other notables that made the list.

  1. The diverse golf experience within the 27 holes is what stands out for me. The combination of woods, water, sand and significant elevation changes, maximizes the opportunity for a golfer to play a variety of shots. Coupled with the positioning of the multiple tee boxes on each hole, Governors Club golfers can get several different looks at the same golf course.

  2. I’ve been the Head Golf Professional at Governors Club for over seven years and still find each round exhilarating.
The course never plays the same twice and the benefit of 27-holes ensures variety. Our Director of Grounds, Kevin Redfern,
is highly regarded among his peers and continues to take our course to the next level. Now is the perfect time to see the
course. We are hosting several events this summer that are open to the public to enjoy.

. US Senior Open Qualifier, June 29
. Carolinas Amateur Qualifier, July 1
. US Kids Golf Tournament, August 11

  3. I love this golf course. Why? Because not only is it beautiful and interesting, it is a very fair course. By that I mean it is not gimmicky. From the forward tees there are no long forced carries, the water and lateral hazards are manageable and there is always a reasonable path to the green as long as I stay in the fairway. Many of the bunkers are deep and the greens are quite challenging, but they roll true.

The course is eminently playable – even a higher handicap golfer can enjoy the challenges of this beautiful Nicklaus layout by the application of a little local knowledge, good course management techniques and staying out of “trouble.”

  4. Bald Head Island Limited is offering a Stay & Play Golf Package, which includes discounted greens fees, discounted accommodations, round-trip ferry passage, temporary BHI Club and Shoals Club memberships, a breakfast coupon, and 20% off dining at select island restaurants.
